BACKFLOW INSTALLER CERTIFICATION
The State of Ohio Department of Commerce has implemented an online process for securing the Backflow Installation Certification. The system is designed to verify the identity and compliance of each individual.
If you are a new customer, you need to first set up an IC Customer Portal Account and Create an OHID. The link below will guide you through this process Initial IC Customer Portal Set-up. All fees, applications and certificate of proficiency (24-hour Backflow class) must be through the portal.
Upon completing the PITC Backflow Certification class, you will obtain;
• Your initial Backflow Technician Application Addendum
• You certificate of proficiency for the 24-hour Backflow course must be uploaded
You are now ready to access the ICCustomerPortal pay your fee, and upload the required documentation.
Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email notification to the email address submitted as contact, you can then reserve a seat for your Backflow Technician Exam in Columbus, OH. (reservations required)
How to reserve a seat please:
- submit a request to bcctrade@com.ohio.gov and include the exam date and time you want. For your convenience a link is provided below.
Exams are generally on the third Monday of each month (except for holidays, the exam will be the following Tuesday). No exams are scheduled in July or August.
Backflow Technician Exam Schedule
On the day of the exam:
- Registration starts at 9:30 AM for the 10:00 AM exam and at 12:30 PM for the 1:00 PM exam.
- Location: 6606 Tussing Road, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. Enter on the east side of the building.
